Architect & Data Principal Consultant / Practice Leader, BioPharma R&D Astrix Strategic Consulting Services Astrix’s Strategic Consulting Services (SCS) business unit is a professional services consulting group assisting our Life Sciences R&D clients with enterprise architecture, digital transformation, optimization strategies, and program management planning.

We are actively seeking a Principal Consultant to join our team. Our consultants are part of an expanding, collaborative team based primarily in the Mid-Atlantic area (but with consultants across the country). Key practice areas include Strategic Innovation and Organization Change Management, Architecture and Data Strategy, and Integrated Business Analysis. Engagement domain areas include BioPharma Research, Preclinical, Product Development, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, and Manufacturing with a focus on enabling technologies.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Principal Consultant, Architecture and Data will, as SCS expands, apply strong BioPharma R&D industry, process, data management and technical knowledge to manage and lead a practice area within the business unit and will lead the delivery of enterprise architecture and data strategy and governance technology consulting projects for our clients. Projects may involve development of conceptual, logical and physical architecture strategies, roadmaps and design, data management strategies and roadmaps, data governance, and data standards and ontology definition and harmonization as well as architecture and data related enterprise solution definition and selection in support of Life Sciences R&D initiatives. The Principal Consultant, once acclimated to the SCS methodology and approach, will be responsible for developing client relationships, overseeing practice engagements, directly leading and contributing to engagements, as well as identifying business expansion opportunities within the assigned practice area. Consulting engagements may involve strategy and roadmap development, platform centric and data centric architecture, business analysis (related to enterprise architecture and data), related technical requirements definition, technical assessments, solution definition and selection, and implementation roadmap/blueprint development. In addition to identifying expansion opportunities, the Principal Consultant also partners with our sales team to assist with development of proposals for expansion and new opportunities. The Principal Consultant will also be responsible for growing the practice area, including management of the personnel, recruiting talent, and ensuring the ongoing professional development of the practice resources.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience growing and managing business units and consulting practices, including P&L and accrual revenue reporting • Deep knowledge of Life Science R&D and Manufacturing lifecycle processes and technologies • Expertise in challenges, opportunities, emerging strategic needs and technical capabilities within Life Sciences R&D and Manufacturing • Subject matter expertise in enterprise architecture, data and information management, data governance (both technical and organizational) and FAIR data practices • Strong understanding of all DMBoK knowledge areas and how they fit together to deliver high quality scientific and operational data from data acquisition through to data analytics and business intelligence • Must be fully conversant and able to explain and apply latest technology trends and concepts, such as data fabric, data mesh, data products, data analytics, data science and data pipelining, AI and machine learning, data warehouses, lakes and lakehouses, data virtualization, data storage modalities, data integration approaches, metadata management, data catalogs, ontologies, and NLP/NLG etc. • Familiarity with data management and analytical product services offered on the major cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) • Strategic mindset • Ability to juggle multiple priorities concurrently and easily shift from strategic to tactical delivery on internal and client initiatives • Self-motivated, learning mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. • Possess excellent logic, writing and language skills • Be detailed and organized

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in scientific or technical domain, Masters preferred • 10+ years in consulting (including leading digital transformation projects) in a client environment • 5+ years in providing leadership to and managing consulting staff/practices. Prior practice lead experience • Proven track record of driving top line and services growth in a practice area • Deep knowledge of Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology R&D • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in English required

COMPENSATION:
Salary ranges from $200-250,000/year based on level of experience plus quarterly bonus opportunity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions work remotely from home offices • Planned travel up to 20% (travel is currently variable based on COVID)
